Franklin Wayne Stokely, Sr.
November 26, 1932 - January 17, 2012
Franklin Wayne Stokely, Sr., 79 of Beaumont died January 17, 2012 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Born November 26, 1932 in Coolidge, Texas and resided most of his life in this area, he was the son of Callie Brewer and L. E. Stokely. A 1951 graduate of Kilgore High School and 1955 graduate of Texas A&M, Franklin was also a United States Army veteran. He retired from Texaco after thirty-two years of service, having worked as an accountant in the Port Arthur, Port Neches, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Convent, Louisiana refineries.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine Matak and her husband, Chris and Susan Jones and her husband, John all of Fannett and Christy Rhoads and her husband, Andrew of Vidor; sons, Franklin W. Stokely, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Hamshire, Steven Stokely, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth of Pattison and Steven Stokely, Jr. of Nederland; brothers, Cecil Stokely and his wife Lerline and Richard Stokely and his wife, Nancy all of Kilgore; sister, Beulah Mae of Laneville; fourteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Stokely; brothers, Johnny Stokely, Truman Stokely, Joe Stokely and Glynn Stokely; and sisters, Lilly Troy Geeslin and Margaret Elaine Avary.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Broussard’s Chapel, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland followed by interment at Broussard Cemetery in Fannett. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
