Leo Melvin Klaes, Jr., 73, of Winnie passed away on January 15, 2012, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston.  

A native of Galveston, he was born on October 12, 1938, to Leo Melvin Klaes, Sr. and Bernice Christopher Klaes. Leo had lived in the Winnie area for ten years and was a retired operator with Monsanto-Dow. He enjoyed watching football, fishing, baseball, golf, listening to the Golden Oldies and going to the casino. Leo love his family very much, especially his grandchildren.

  He is survived by his wife, Diana Klaes of Winnie; sons, Mike Klaes of Pearland; daughters, Lynn Stine and her husband, Larry of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Kimberly Meiske and her husband, Rick of the Woodlands; brother, Richard Klaes of Zavalla; sisters, Sharon Marshall and Jetty Singleton of Dickinson; grandchildren, Brandon Stine, Chris Stine and Katie Stine; and a host of family and friends.  

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012, at Broussard’s.
