Lucille Irene Richard, 85, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital, Houston. Born February 4, 1926, to Willie Lene Chance and James Buchanan Mills in Teague, she was a lifelong resident of the Golden Triangle area.
Lucille spent her entire working career as a meat wrapper and a proud member of the Meat Wrappers Union. She made her contribution to her country as a welder, building ships during World War II. Lucille enjoyed dancing, cooking and all things country and western.
She is survived by her son, Danny Hetzel and his wife, Edna of Beaumont; granddaughter, Amanda Sweezy and her husband, Rob of Hull; great grandchildren, Riggs and Bella Sweezy; nieces, Darlene Angelo and Delores Moses; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1315 S. 27th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Brothers Joe Roberts and Frank Hodges will be officiating. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Broussard’s.
