Jack Otto Silkwood, 79, of Jourdanton, Texas died Saturday, December 31, 2011, at his residence. Born September 19, 1932 in Kilgore, the son of Ruth Amelia Faulkner Silkwood and Ulmet Otto Silkwood, he was raised in Nederland until 1982, when he moved to Jasper and resided there until 2009, before moving to Jourdanton. Jack was employed as a layout man with Burton Shipyard.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Silkwood of Pleasanton; daughters, Mary Kelly of Mesquite, Carol Silkwood of Port Arthur and Sandy Todd of Katy; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Billy Silkwood.
His funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Broussard’s.
