Joseph "Brother" Andrew Concienne, Jr.
May 16, 1922 - January 1, 2012

Joseph Andrew “Brother” Concienne, Jr., 89, of Nederland died January 1, 2012 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.  Born May 16, 1922 in Morgan City, Louisiana and resident of Nederland for seventy-nine years before residing the last three years at Atria Collier Park in Beaumont, he was the son of Beatrice Breaux Concienne and Joseph A. Concienne, Sr. 

 

Mr. Concienne retired as a supervisor in the Cracking Department with Gulf Oil, after forty-one years of service.  He was a United States World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp.  He was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul, the Knights of Columbus, ACTS, and many other groups.

 

He is survived by his sons, Joseph A. Concienne III and his wife, Brenda of Galveston, Mark B. Concienne and his wife, Donna of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tom W. Concienne and his wife, Dena of Houston; daughters, Linda Kay Lynch and her husband, Pat of Prescott, Arizona, Ann Helen Collins and her husband, Mike and Rebecca R. Hawkins and her husband, Ron all of Cypress, Nancy M. Vannett and her husband, Ron of Beaumont, and Tina Brindza and her husband, Jim of Nederland; sisters, Gloria Stark and Marion Dubose both of Beauxart Gardens, Theresa Dickinson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Genelle Austin and Gayle Sheppard both of Nederland, Mary Worthy of Orangefield, Camella Woodard of Temple, and Judy Rogers of The Woodlands; brothers, Anthony Concienne of Nederland, Pat Concienne of Washington, and Lynn Concienne of Beauxart Gardens; grandchildren, Michael T. Collins and his wife, Paula, Keri A. Meagher and her husband, Patrick, Blake A. Collins and his wife, Brandi, Jason E. Hawkins, Ryan A. Hawkins and his wife, Kimberly, Alyssa Concienne, Wade Concienne, Amy Hinds and her husband, Jason, Adam Vannett and his wife, Lindsey, Brian Harris and his wife, Erin, Lucas Harris and his wife, Andrea, James Brindza, Holly Brindza, Jamie  Muniz and her husband, James, Leigh Doerre and her husband, Brad, Kelley Lynch, Tracy Schuster and her husband, Steve, Kevin Lynch and his wife, Paula, Dana Williams and her husband, Preston, Kayla Klein and her husband, Kory, Marcus Concienne, and Monica Concienne; great grandchildren, Conrey, Ann Kate, John Michael, Mary Cile, Lexie, Ellie, Aaron, Allison, Trevor, Ross, Raegan, Drew, Dawson, Drake, Olivia, Ben, Lucy, Kayleigh, Jameson, Maile, Hannah, Caroline, Josephine, Tom, Kelsey, Paige, Peyton, Brianna, Andrew, Kamryn and Kade.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Poss Concienne; and his sisters, Annabell Babin and Beatrice DeLord.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy, Nederland followed by burial at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday evening, January 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at Broussard’s.
