Thelma Puckett, 83, of Kountze, died December 30, 2011 at Baptist Hospital Beaumont surrounded by her loving family. Thelma was born May 11, 1928 in Roganville, Texas to Arlis and Mattie (Burch) Sanders. She worked as a sales clerk for White’s Department Store and she served her community as a member of the Lions Club, Child Protective Services Board and the Christian Loving Care Center. Thelma also taught Sunday School for many years at Hwy. 326 Worship Center (formerly Little Rock Assembly of God). She also worked many years with Hardin County Crime Victims Assistance Program. Thelma was a very kind and loving person, who enjoyed meeting and visiting with people throughout the community. Her love and compassion will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Thelma is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Eugene Puckett of Kountze; her daughter, Brenda Hinklin and her husband Melvin of Kountze; her son, Ronald Puckett and his wife Ginger of Kountze; her brother, Joe Donald Sanders of Kountze; her grandchildren, Caleb Hinklin, Trent Hinklin, Jon Puckett and Derek Puckett; her great-grandchildren, Laydon Pipmon, Connor Hinklin and Trinity Hinklin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Hwy. 326 Worship Center 5970 Highway 326 North, Kountze, with burial to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze. A gathering of her family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at the church.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Puckett’s name to Christian Loving Care Center, P.O. Box 1328, Kountze, Texas 77625.
