April Collins Rosenthal, 66, of Winnie and formerly of Gilchrist departed this life on December 29, 2011.
She was born in Beaumont on June 3, 1945, as a young student April was a member of the Jefferson County 4-H club. As a teenager she traveled extensively as a livestock judge achieving outstanding girl in 1961 and 1962.
April’s son’s played little league and she became very active in that organization, serving many years as President of the Jefferson-Hardin Little League in Sour Lake. After moving to the Bolivar Peninsula in 1987, she became an Emergency Medical Technician and an Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for the Gilchrist Texas Emergency Medical Services from 1988 to 2008. April loved flowers especially daisies and enjoyed cooking for family and friends and will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rick Rosenthal, three sons, Gerald Collins and his wife, Melissa, Stephen Collins and his wife, Teresa all of Winnie and Leon Rosenthal and his wife, Cindy of Scottsdale, Arizona; one daughter, Monica Crawford and her husband, Royce of Larue; twelve grandchildren, Dr. Allison Rosenthal, Elise Rosenthal, Taylor Rosenthal, Andy Hegarty, Katelyn Collins, Cody Collins, Gavin Tomlinson, Coby Collins, Taylar Collins, Slade Collins, Mathew Crawford and Hayden Collins; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jackie Mead of Lumberton and Debbie Smith and her husband, Sam of Winnie.
April was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Bertha Park and twin sons, Larry and Gary Collins; and great-grandson, Alexander Joseph Hegarty.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Coby Collins, Slade Collins, Mathew Crawford and Andy Hegarty; nephew, Ronnie Gibson; and family friend, James Goodman.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, January 2, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Broussard’s.
