Mary Yawn Bullock
May 24, 1933 - December 27, 2011

Mary Yawn Bullock, 78, of Beaumont, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. She was born in Merryville, Louisiana, to Miller C. Yawn and Bill Karr Yawn on May 24, 1933. After the death of her father, she moved with her mother to Beaumont, where she graduated from Beaumont High School. She attended Lamar University and later graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Education.   She retired from the Beaumont Independent School District, where she was an elementary school teacher for thirty two years. She taught at Edwards, Bethune, and Ogden Elementary schools and was a member of the Beaumont Association of Retired Teachers, as well as the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for women educators.   Her interest in gardening led to her membership in the Garden Department of the Women's Club and Thyme for Herbs. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and active in the Yomaco Sunday School Class, as well as United Methodist Women.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elmer Bullock.   Survivors include her son, C. Edward Bullock and his wife, Flora Yeh; and granddaughter, Zoe Bullock, who loved her very much.   A gathering of her family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, under the direction of Broussard's.
