Edward Massingill

Edward Massingill, 95, of Winnie went to his eternal rest on December 26, 2011.   He was born on April 17, 1916, in Corssett, Arkansas, to Benjamin Massingill and Mattie Neal Massingill. Edward retired from the Caddo Parish Highway Department in Caddo, Louisiana, after thirty years and moved to the Winnie area in 1981. He had a wonderful life and lived to be ninety-five years, eight months and nine days young.   Edward is survived by sons, John Edward Massingill of Winnie and Larry Massingill of Shongaloo, Louisiana; step-daughter, Betty Sparkman of Lufkin; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews; great-great-great-great nieces and nephews; and he will be missed by all who loved him.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty-two years, Katherine; brother, Bennie F. Massingill; sisters, Lela Massingill and Eva Bumpass (his twin sister).  

His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, December 31, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134, W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Dr. Marion Hendrickson will be officiating at his service. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Broussard’s.
