Bertis A. “Bert” Lout, 87. of Buna, died on December 25, 2011 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. Bert was born July 9, 1924 in Shelbyville, Texas to John Arvie and Mattie (Parker) Lout. A resident of Buna since 1966, Bert was a retired process operator from Neches Butane in Port Neches with thirty-two years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed cattle ranching and fishing with his family. Bert served two years in the Merchant Marines and then was drafted in the United States Army where he served as a medic.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Jean Carroll Lout of Buna; daughters, Carolyn Lout Marquart and her husband John of Lumberton, Vickie Richards Bond of West Columbia, Texas; grandchildren, Melanie Marquart Meriwether, Jared Marquart, Kent Crawford and Jason Crawford and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Lout.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Rather Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas under the direction of Broussard’s in Silsbee. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Lout’s name to Word of Life Church, 7955 Mormon Church Road, Silsbee, Texas 77656.
