Emily Diane Jacobson Riu

Emily Diane Jacobson Riu, 22, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

She was born March 24, 1989, in Galveston, to Shodi Votaw Jacobson and Jay Jacobson, and had lived in Sour Lake most of her life before residing in Beaumont. Emily was currently enrolled at Lamar University. She was an office assistant at Farmers Insurance and currently served as a child care giver.

Survivors include her husband, the love of her life, Caleb Riu of Beaumont; parents, Shodi and Jay Jacobson of Sour Lake; brother, Aaron Jacobson and his wife, Lori of Groves; sister, Stacy Jacobson of Sour Lake; grandmother, Sandra Votaw of Hull; mother-in-law, Bonnie Riu of Port Neches; brother-in-law, Tim Riu and his wife, Mattie of Nederland; grandmother-in-law, Anna Riu of Lafayette, Louisiana; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dale Riu.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake, 325 W. 7th Street, Sour Lake, with a interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Broussard’s.
