Betty Jo Brooks, 81, of Winnie died on December 19, 2011, at the Arboretum of Winnie.
A native of Houston, she was born on June 29, 1930, to Cornelius Tennis and Annie Mae Curtis Tennis. Betty has lived in the Winnie area since 1959. She had worked as a secretary for attorney, Bud Pounds; for the A.S. C. office, and also Durr Butane.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Brooks; sons, Johnny Brooks and his fiancé, Cindy Glaze, and Ronnie Brooks all of Winnie; grandchildren, Brandy Simon, Ryan Brooks, R.J. Brooks, Johnny Brooks, Jr., Tanner Brooks, and Ashley Brooks; great-grandchildren, Blyth Taylor, Austin Simon, Cameron Simon, Tyler Brooks, Kayden Brooks, and Taylor Brooks; and a host of friends and family.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of her family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Broussard’s.
