Wanda Katrina Cook Leary, 78, of Houston, died December 18, 2011 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster. Born May 2, 1933 in Frankston, Texas, she was the daughter of Emma J. Lawrence Franklin and William C. Franklin, and had been a resident of Nederland for most of her life before residing in Houston for the last five years
She is survived by her husband, Jack Leary of Houston; daughters, Belinda Weems of Quitman, Mississippi, Theresa Boesch and Mary Edwards both of Fort Worth; son, Richard X. Cook of Houston; grandchildren, Adam Weems, Allison Moore, Emily Jones, Tyler Edwards, and Scarlett Edwards; and great grandchildren, Grace Townsend, Reilly Jones, Addison Leigh Weems, and Caitlyn Mackenzie Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Xavier Cook; and sister, Reba Land.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland followed by burial at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at Broussard’s.
