Eugene Marvin Kling, 86, of Beaumont, passed away on December 17, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Buffalo, New York, to Bertha Schucraft Kling and Eugene Marvin Kling, he was a longtime resident of Beaumont. An Army veteran of World War II, he graduated from University of Buffalo and worked as a chemist for DuPont until he retired in 1985.
Mr. Kling was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he led singing and taught Sunday school in the John Land Class. He particularly loved giving glory to God with his voice, and enjoyed looking for meaningful hymns to sing. He also enjoyed working with the Morning Out Club at Trinity.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Kling.
Survivors include his son, Michael Kling of Austin; daughters, Janice Mitcheltree of Humble and Kathleen Carson and her husband, Bobby Carson of Marshall; sisters, Patricia Minervini of Tonawanda, New York and Joyce Malaney of Hamburg, New York; and grandchildren, Caitlin Carson, Tracy Carson, Michelle Ganje, Sarah Kling and Sophia Kling.
His memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont. A committal service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
