Larry Paul “Poppy” Stafford, 65, of Beaumont died December 9, 2011, peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a fourteen year battle with cancer.
A native of Blackwell, Oklahoma and a longtime resident of Beaumont, he was an independent insurance agent for many years. Larry was a faithful servant of God and a member of North End Baptist Church for over thirty years, where he served as a yokefellow, Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, served on the personnel finance and insurance committees, AWANAS’s program for the children ministry and Prayer Ministry. As a servant of God he was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father and a doting poppy.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Sarah Stafford; daughters, Grace Baber, Anna Baber Childs and her husband, Patrick and Ellen Baber and her fiancé, Kirk Clevenger; son, Michael Paul Stafford; two grandchildren, whom he loved and adored, Taylor Grace Hughes and Stafford Wayne Baber; sister, Kim Brittan and her husband, Mark and their family; special mom, Verlynn Baber; loving sister-in-law, Anna Horton and her husband, Dale and family; special family member, Jeanette Graves and her family; and numerous loving family members and friends.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2011, at North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Broussard’s.
