John "Johnny" H. Schroeder
November 16, 1930 - December 6, 2011

John H. “Johnny” Schroeder, 81, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at his residence.

 

Johnny had a good understanding of life and his positive attitude was contagious. His influence on all his friends and extended family was profound. Johnny enjoyed life, and lived it his way. His thought was life was an open range. “If you knew him, you know what we’re talking about”.

 

Johnny and Sandy were known nationally in horse training circles. They traveled the southern states extensively participating in rodeo production, cutting events, and horse shows.

 

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Schroeder of Sour Lake; sons, Johnny R. “Bubba” Schroeder and his wife, Janet of Sour Lake and Victor “Tuffy” Schroeder of Beaumont; daughters, Pam Albacete and her husband, Alfonso of Beaumont, Karen Monk of Sour Lake, Amy Woolls and her husband, Phillip of Sour Lake; brother, Victor “Iky” Schroeder and his wife, Edith of Nome; sister, Alena Schroeder of Beaumont; eleven grandchildren, Richie, Rachael, Steven, Brad, Terri, Allen, Vickie, Alex, Evan, Sean, and Skyler; and twenty great-grandchildren. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kitty Hidalgo; and his brothers, Bootsie, Sugum, and Marvin Schroeder.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Broussard’s.

 

Phillip Woolls, Lance Schroeder, Alfonso Albacete, Robbie Schroeder, Billy Schroeder, Ronnie Schroeder, Donny Schroeder, Tommy Schroeder, Bill Schroeder, Black Schroeder, Punky Schroeder, and Paul Schroeder will serve as pallbearers. Skyler Woolls, Logan Bottoms, Sean Monk, Evan Monk, Alex Bruenn, Allen Schroeder, Brad Schroeder, Steven Schroeder, Richie Hidalgo, Chad Schroeder, and Joe Keating will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Sour Lake Cowboy Church, 15977 Schroeder Road, Sour Lake, Texas 77659.
