John Dale Lumbley, 55, of Port Arthur, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at his residence. He was born November, 7, 1956, in Port Arthur, to Betty Lumbley and John H. Lumbley, Jr. and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Dale graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where he was a member of the golf team. He also graduated from Lamar University with a BS in Business. Dale enjoyed golfing, gardening and music. He was an operator at Unocal until his medical retirement in 1987. Dale was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Beaumont and especially looked forward to the Sportsman Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Delouise Lumbley of Port Arthur; son, Jonathan Lumbley of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Kristi Lumbley Archer and her husband, Mark of Pearland; grandson, Greyson Archer of Pearland; mother, Betty Lumbley of Beaumont; sisters, Shari Griffin and her husband, John of Beaumont and Leni Carothers Bourque and her husband, Bobby of Nederland; father-in-law, Everette Finley of Nederland; sister-in-law, Lori Cummings and her husband, Ken of Houston; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, John H. Lumbley,Jr.; grandparents, John H. Lumbley, Sr., Helen Hall Lumbley, Dale Muzzy and Ruth Sheaffer Muzzy.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, December 9, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Broussard's.
