C. Richard “Rik” Kalina, 44, of Kountze died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at his residence. He was born November 22, 1967, in Gary, Indiana to Patricia (Ammer) and Charles Richard Kalina. A resident of Kountze for nine years, he was general manager with Schwann’s.
Survivors include his children, Malea Ieesha Kalina of Brooksville, Florida, Miranda Laree Kalina of Kountze, Akota Jordan Kalina of Kountze, Joe Krauss of Kountze, Jessica Krauss of California, and Aaron Krauss of Kountze; parents, Charles and Pat Kalina of Valparaiso, Indiana; brothers, David Kalina of Neighborville, Illinois and Dennis Kalina of Cheney, Washington; sisters, Dawn Widener of Portage, Indiana and Denise Nibbe of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of his family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. His funeral service will be 5:30 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland, Gary, Indiana with a gathering of his family and friends to be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
