George E. Arnold, 88, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on June 3, 1923, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to Mary June Arnold and John August Arnold. George was a World War II Army veteran and a heavy equipment supervisor for the Texas Highway Department District #20. He sang with the Harmony Exporters for over twenty years, played the guitar, was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church Choir for over forty years and also enjoyed lending a helping hand to his family.
Survivors include his son, Dennis S. Arnold and his wife, Tina; grandchildren, Alexis Arnold and Christopher Arnold and his wife, Crystal; great-grandchild, Christian Arnold, all of Beaumont; and sister, Hazel Robinson of Connecticut.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary O. Arnold; two sisters; and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Christian Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2011, at Broussard’s.
