Robert J. Hunter, 67, of Sour Lake, died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
He was born August 1, 1944, in Port Arthur, to Opal Lee Wiggins Hunter and Ernest Vincent Hunter, Sr., and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. Hunter was a retired truck driver and knife maker. He was the lead guitarist in several bands in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area during eh 1960’s and 1970’s.
Survivors include his wife, Glynda Hunter of Sour Lake; daughters, Stacy Swearingen and her husband, John of Sour Lake, and Stephanie Tay and her husband, Erin of Baytown; grandchildren, Jacob Swearingen, Joshua Swearingen, Meghan Tay, and Chase Tay of Great Falls, Montana; sister, Edna Ruth James; and brother-in-law, Buddy Copeland of Sour Lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ernest Hunter, Jr.
A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
