Earl Elizabeth Snyder

Earl Elizabeth Snyder
November 22, 1917 - October 29, 2011

Earl Elizabeth Snyder went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2011.  She was born on November 22, 1917, to Alvin and Sarah Clements in Port Arthur, Texas.  She moved to Houston, Texas and graduated from Reagan High School where she was the drill leader of the Reagan High School Redcoats.  In 1938, she married the love of her life Harve Snyder and was married for sixty-four years before he passed away in 2003.  She was the proud Mother of two sons, Jim Snyder and his wife, Burnley and John Snyder and his wife, Mary, both of Seattle, and the grandmother of Bryce Snyder and his wife, Erin, Meredith Helmick and her husband, Jay and Morgan Snyder, and the great grandmother of Jewel and Summer Snyder and Charlotte Helmick.  She was also very close to her niece, Patricia Snyder and her nephew, Mike Boyd.

Once her sons left for college, she became an avid golfer where many close friendships were made. As a couple she and Harve played many rounds together and with friends. The pinnacle of her golfing career occurred when she made a hole in one at Pinewood Golf Club.   Earl was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Houston until moving to Beaumont, Texas in 1956, where the family joined Trinity United Methodist Church in 1957.  She loved this church and its many pastors including Dr. Bob Shield the current pastor whom she watched on TV when she could no longer attend.   In 2006, she moved to Calder Woods making many new friends there.  For the last two and a half years, she was lovingly cared for by the Earth Angels Service managed by Elizabeth Taylor.  Audrey, Elizabeth, Shannon, Teri, Gail, Rita, Danielle, and others gave her loving care and companionship during this period which she and her family appreciated very much. With Audrey’s encouragement and hard work, Earl gave several parties for friends that became a huge success for fun and friendship of her neighbors.   Earl Snyder was deeply loved by her husband and family, her caregivers, and her friends and was known as a gracious and caring person.  She will be greatly missed.   A reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, with a memorial service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.  A private family committal will be held at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.     Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5247, Beaumont, Texas 77726.
