John Harvey Verret, 77, of Winnie died November 1, 2011, at the Arboretum Nursing home of Winnie. He was born September 30, 1934, in Port Arthur to Simon and Louise Verret.
John had been an administrator with the Beaumont Independent School District and retired as an administrator with Nederland Independent School district. He had lived in the Winnie area since 1994, a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Navy.
John is survived by his loving wife of fifty one years, Shirley Verret of Winnie; son, Harold “Hoss” Verret and his wife, Shanna of Hamshire; daughter, Pamela Van Boskirk and her husband, Scott of Nederland; grandchildren, Callie Van Boskirk, Mollie Van Boskirk, Eileen Van Boskirk, Will Sanderson, Catherine Sanderson, Walt Sanderson, Justin Morgan and Caleb Verret; son-in-law, Wes Sanderson of Nederland; brother, Blaise Verret and his wife, Mary of Galloway, New Jersey; sister, Juliet Mendoza and her husband, Don of Port Neches; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Sanderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Broussard’s with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m.
