Syble Lee Walls Greer was born in Hallsville, Texas July 20, 1914, to John Noah Walls and Effie Dellie Pearl Walls and died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at her residence in Beaumont.
Syble married Jimmy Dice Greer in 1934, and they had three children. In 1958, she moved to Beaumont where she was employed at Monroe Service and Thompson Answering Service and she was very active in her church, Sabine Tabernacle.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Sylvester of Lecenter, Minnesota; sister, Pauline Greer of Hallsville; grandchildren, Dian and Syd Srader, J. J. Singletary, Gary and Lisbyn Jeane, Mike and Rochelle Jeane, Linda and Bill Thomas, Judy and Barry Campbell, Paula Sylvester and Daryl, Greg Sylvester, Penny Smith and Mike, Jimmy Greer and Lala, and Charles Greer; eighteen great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great grandchildren.
Syble is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jimmy Greer; and daughter, Ann DeRyke.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Broussard’s. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Sabine Tabernacle Church, 1065 Hazel Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Hallsville Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas.
