John H. Lumbley, Jr., 82, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.
He was born March 8, 1929, in Port Arthur, to Helen Hall Lumbley and John Henry Lumbley, Sr., and had been a lifelong resident of the area. John was a retired employment supervisor with Texaco and was a United States Army veteran. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Beaumont.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Betty Lumbley of Beaumont; son, Dale Lumbley and his wife, Delouise of Port Arthur; daughters, Shari Lumbley Griffin and her husband, John of Beaumont; and Leni Lumbley Carothers Bourque and her husband, Bobby of Nederland; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Lumbley, Kristi Lumbley Archer, Justin Griffin, Hollyn Griffin, Tyler Carothers, Colin Carothers, and Tangee Griffin; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Archer, Olivia Hornsby, Emma Griffin, and Lawson Griffin; and brother, Louis Lumbley; and four nieces and four nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 12 Noon, Monday, October 31, 2011, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Broussard’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worship Ministry or the Mission’s Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
