Donald “Don” Andrew Webb, 79, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011. A lifelong resident of the area, he was born to Audrey Nobles Webb and Robert Andrew Webb on August 31, 1932.
Don was a member of Platoon 227 of the 8th Marine Corp Reserve Division, Galveston, Texas. He served in the Asiatic Pacific engagements from February 1951 to March 1952. He participated as an Anti-Tank-Assault Infantry Unit Leader in Operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. Don was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Cluster and the United Nations’ ribbon.
After military service he became a licensed electrician and a lifelong member of IBEW Local #479, having been awarded his fifty year service membership in 2004 and the fifty-five year service membership in 2009.
He attended South Park High School and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and with his friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Smith and her husband, Larry of Woodville; sons, Frank Jay Webb of Beaumont, Brian Andrew Webb and his wife, Roberta and Robert Wayne Webb and his wife, Susan all of Kingwood; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Illene Ozment and her husband Pat of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Betty Webb of Turner, Oregon; and other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Audrey Webb; and brother, Robert M. Webb.
His graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Broussard’s.
