Joyce Holland Williams, 83, of Kountze, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 17, 1928, in Romayor, Texas, to Arthur and Sallie Averett Holland. On June 9, 1946, she married Marshall Williams. A resident of Kountze most of her life, she was a retired nursing assistant having worked at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Burmont Nursing Center, and Kountze Nursing Center. She was a member of Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her children, Bruce Williams and his wife, Laquita; Lanette Tate and her husband, Ricky; and Beverly Jones, all of Kountze; brother, Richard Holland of Kountze; sister, Betty Herrin of Beaumont; eight grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, L.C. Holland, Arnold Holland, Arthur Holland, Jr., Marie Overstreet, and Berniece Tanner; and grandson, Scott Sunday.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze, with Reverend David Foster and Reverend Robert Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery in Kountze. A gathering of her family and friends will be 9:00 a.m., until time of her service, at Broussard’s.
