Charline Fay Sherman, 100, of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beaumont.

 

She was born on November 23, 1910, in China, to Lydia Etta Conklin and Walter Joseph Conklin, and had been a lifelong resident of the area.

 

Charline married Lloyd Sherman in 1945.  He died in 1976.  She was a teacher in the Beaumont Independent School District, and retired in 1965 from teaching second grade at Averill Elementary.

 

She is survived by her nieces, Lydia Currie of Beaumont, Myrtle Schofield of Big Spring and Beverly Hauser and her husband of Kingwood; nephews, Buster Guedry and his wife, Ann of Sour Lake, Harry Guedry of Kirbyville and Don Fuller and his wife, Maple of Anderson; and one hundred great-nieces and nephews.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with interment to follow at China Cemetery. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Broussard’s.
