Nelda “Nell” Davis, 68, of Beaumont, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 3, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Nell was born September 23, 1943, to Mary Elizabeth Brown Campbell and Monroe Price Campbell. She lived in Madisonville until 1962, when she moved to Beaumont where she resided for 49 years. She was a homemaker and retired from the US Postal Service after 19 years of service. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working with the Women’s Ministry Team at Amelia Baptist Church where she was a member for 49 years.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Carl “Doug” Davis, Sr. of Beaumont; daughters, Debra Roberts and her husband, Rick of Spring, and Lisa Vaughan and her husband, Jimmie of Paris; sons, Doug Davis and his wife, Dianna of Beaumont, and Jason Davis of Madisonville; grandchildren, Tyler Roberts, Campbell Roberts, Maggie Roberts, Logan Davis, and Kolton Davis; sister, Kay Bennett and her husband Truett of Silsbee; brother, Dr. Phil Campbell and his wife Skipper of Huntsville; nephews, Scott Bennett, Brad Bennett and Greg Davis; and nieces, Kim Campbell and Julie Kunefke.
A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Broussard’s.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with a graveside service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Mount Tabor Cemetery, Madisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Nell, to the Women’s Ministry at Amelia Baptist Church, 8055 Brighton, Beaumont, Texas 77707.
