Etienne Simon, 93, of Winnie died October 1, 2011, at the Arboretum Nursing Home of Winnie.
He was born in Scott, Louisiana on July 5, 1918, coming to Texas the winter of 1927, and lived the majority of his life in the Winnie area.
Etienne is survived by his sons, Stephen W. Simon and his wife, Ann of Livingston, Robert R. Simon and his wife, Carole of Vidor and Donald M. Simon and his wife, C. C. of Mt. Belvieu; daughter, Deborah A. Mahon and her husband, James of Hamshire; twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wallace Simon and his wife, Mary of Stowell and Anthony “Bee” Simon and his wife, Aurelia of Lafayette, Louisiana; sister, Lucille LaComb of Vidor; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Marie Simon; wife, Gladys Simon; brothers, Rene and William Simon; sisters, Laura Simon, Isaure Boudreaux, Louise Credeur and Matile Guidry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1344 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2011, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
