Doris LaVerne Bailey, 88, of Beaumont, died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at The Clairmont in Beaumont.
She was born in Altus, Oklahoma on November 22, 1922, to Vena King Parchman and Raymond Parchman. LaVerne and J.H. were married in Altus, Oklahoma on October 3, 1943, and later moved to Beaumont where they had resided since 1966. Sewing clothes for herself was something she enjoyed doing and LaVerne also made doll clothes for several dolls that her sister Oleta treasured. She enjoyed several crafts but her favorite pastime was to write letters and send cards to family and friends.
LaVerne is survived by her son, Ronald Max Bailey; grandson, John C. “Chris” Bailey; and two special great-grandchildren; Jacob and Caleb.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, J.H. Bailey; her parents; and her sister.
LaVerne was a member of Northwest Church of Christ. As all of her family and friends can attest to LaVerne always having a smile on her face. She will be missed by many friends as well as her family.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 12 Noon Tuesday until time of service at Broussard’s.
