Gerard Lewis Delahoussaye, 86, of Nederland died May 2, 2011 at his residence. Born November 21, 1924 in Port Arthur, he was the son of Oswald and Jeanne Fournet Delahoussaye. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Delores Gesser Delahoussaye. He was a United States World War II Army veteran, having fought in Europe and served in Japan after the war. Gerard retired as regional manager from Travelers Insurance Company and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Nederland. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his sons, Gerard Lewis Delahoussaye II and his wife, Marie-Josee Costisella Delahoussaye of Murphysboro, Illinois and Todd Andre Delahoussaye of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sister, Frances Albers and her husband, Curtis of Port Arthur; brother, Raymond O. Delahoussaye and his wife, Elizabeth of Austin; and grandchildren, Marie-Gabrielle Delahoussaye, Marie-Pascale Delahoussaye, Marie-Dominique Delahoussaye, Paul Gerard Delahoussaye, and Luc Joseph Delahoussaye.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening, May 6, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
