Jimmie Buxton O’Neal, 84, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. Born May 27, 1926, to Alma Bendy Hankins and Ernest Hankins in Rockland, Texas, she retired as a plant assigner for Southwestern Bell after forty-four years of service. Jimmie will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneer’s Club, Pilot Club, and was past president of the Parent Teachers Association.
Survivors include her husband, James O'Neal of Beaumont; daughter, Patty Buxton Burmeister and her husband Jon; granddaughter, Janell Reese Klosterboer and her husband Travis; great grandchildren, Ethan Klosterboer, Bryce Klosterboer and Heidi Klosterboer; four step-children, Archie O’Neal, Liz Jolly, Mary Creamer and Eugene O’Neal; numerous step-grandchildren; one step-great granddaughter; nieces, Carolyn Landess, Linda Curtis, Linda Buxton, and Brenda Buxton; nephews, Carroll Buxton and Raymond DeWayne Buxton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alma Hankins; brother, Wiley Hankins; sister, Ernestine Tarver; and her first husband, Wayne Buxton.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Broussard’s.
