Jessie Elbert Morris, 92, of Port Neches, died Thursday, April 14, 2011. Born December 29, 1918, in Spanish Fort, Texas to Mary Jane Slaughter and Jesse James Clark, she has been a resident of the area most of her life. Jessie was devoted to her entire family, her friends, and her church. She was a great cook, a faithful giver, and especially loved to help children. If possible, she would have helped anyone that needed help.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis White of Port Neches; son, Grover N. Morris of Nederland; grandson, Rocky L. White of Nederland; and great grandsons, Phillip White and Jesse White.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her children, Phillip N. Morris, and her former husband, G. C. “Bubby” Morris.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Triumph Church, 1407 Highway 69 South, Nederland, with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of her family and friends will be Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Triumph Church.
