William "Bill" Slay

William "Bill" Slay, 63, of Nederland, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, in Port Arthur. Born in Ripley, Mississippi on October 26, 1947 to Lee Etta Barnes and James Henry Slay, Sr., he was a life long resident of the area. Bill was a towboat captain with Grifco.
He is survived by his wife, Vercie Pelt Slay of Nederland; mother, Lee Etta Slay of Nederland; sons, Brandon Slay and his wife Kara of Mt. Pleasant and Troy Slay of Nederland; and grandchildren, Kyaira Louise Slay, Eli Matthew Slay, and Braylon Todd Slay.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, James Henry Slay, Sr.; and his brother, Jimmy Slay.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Central City Baptist Church, 1825 Franklin, Beaumont, Texas 77701, with Chaplain Wayne McEwen officiating under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.
