A. L. "Captain" Morgan
December 19, 1912 - March 10, 2011

A.L. “Captain” Morgan, 98, of Wildwood, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Village Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Lumberton. Born December 19, 1912, in Houston, to Mittie Weaver Morgan and Fred Curry Morgan, he had been a resident of the Beaumont area for many years. A.L. retired from Mobil Oil as an instrument technician. He was a member of Sons of American Revolution and Order of Stars and Bars.

 

Survivors include his son, Fred Morgan and his wife Sandra of Lumberton; grandchildren, Shellye Vardaman, Jason Morgan, Ted M. Morgan, Jr., Christie Rushing, and Lara Jones; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Colleps Morgan; parents; and son, Colonel Ted Morgan.

 

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011, in the Halls of Serenity Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to National Society, Sons of the American Revolution, 1000 South Fourth Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40203-3208; National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20006; or to the charity of one’s choice.
