Ruby Mae Casto

Ruby Mae Casto
October 6, 1937 - February 2, 2011

Ruby Mae Casto, 73, of Nederland, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.    She was born in Grafton, West Virginia on October 6, 1937, to Jesse Mae Corbin and Herbert Leroy Robinson, and had lived in the Nederland area for forty-seven years.  Ruby was employed with TG&Y for many years and also was a worker in the Nederland polls for various elections. She was a member of the order of Eastern Star, Nederland Chapter, a past Matron and a past Grand Representative from Texas through Mississippi. Ruby was also a Pink Lady at Mid-Jefferson Hospital.

 

Ruby is survived by her husband, John P. “Bud” Casto of Nederland; sons, Steve Casto and his wife Donna of Baton Rouge, Louisiana,  Mike Casto and his wife Mary of Long Beach, Mississippi and Mark Casto of Nederland; grandchildren, Cody Casto of Covington, Louisiana, Cory Casto of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ryan Casto of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jessica Casto of Little Rock, Arkansas, Amy Casto Roberson of Benton, Arkansas, Brandi Casto and Emily Casto, both of Nederland; great grand children, Katelyn Casto, Bailey Casto, Jacob Casto, Jacob Casto, Seth Casto, Noah Roberson and Brady Dean Vines; brothers, James Robinson of Grafton, West Virginia, Paul (Dutch) Robinson of Glenburine, Maryland, Ronnie Robinson of Newton, North Carolina, Charlie (Tater Salad) Robinson of Lewes, Delaware; sisters, Virginia Robinson McDaniel of Palm Beach Garden, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl Robinson, Herb Robinson, Kenny Robinson and Bobby Robinson; and sister, Patricia Robinson Romine. 

 

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland with burial to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Broussard’s.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Burn Hospital, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

 

Ruby lovingly taught her children the importance of family.  That legacy will carry on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
