Charles Lloyd Cropper, 93, of Beaumont, died Friday, November 26, 2010, after a short illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Charles was born September 10, 1917, to Mary Victorine (Patureau) and William Albert Cropper. He retired from Exxon Mobil after thirty-five years. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. Charles was very involved at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, both the church and school, and the Disabled American Veterans Association where he was the oldest charter member.
He is survived by his granddaughters, Toya Creel and her husband Sam of Orange and Monica Rogers and her husband Mark of Austin; three great grandchildren, Keaton Creel, Chasen Creel and Peyton Rogers; many loving nieces and nephews; very special friends, Jimmy and Carol Fetters, James Kelly, and Dr. Bob and Betty Toups.
Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Bess Cropper; six sisters and six brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010, with a Christian Vigil to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Santos Soberon and the nursing staff at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
