Joyce Maxwell Crothers, 77, of Beaumont, died Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beaumont. She was born June 21, 1933, in China, Texas, to Otto and Marie Eva (Richard) Abshire, and was a lifetime resident of the area.
Joyce was a seamstress for the Texas Department of Public Safety and many other businesses for many years. She also enjoyed doing crafts and always enjoyed having birds for pets. She was a loving, caring, and fun person who was always willing to help other people.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Barker and her husband Alfred of Hamshire and Gail Foreman and her husband Lee of Fannett; grandchildren, Tiffany Coffman and her husband Jerrod, Keisha Smith and her husband Chris, Keeli Foreman, and Chance Foreman; great grandchildren, Jace Coffman, Jaidyn Coffman, Cade Smith, and Kamryn Smith; sisters, Val Bridgeman, Sandy Isaacs and Jonnie Abshire.
Her funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland with Reverend Stephen McCrate officiating. A gathering of her family and friends will be Monday, November 22, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
