Lloyd Eugene Thompson

Lloyd grew up in Warren, Texas and enlisted in the Air Force when he was eighteen.  He proudly served our country for eight years all over the world.  He achieved Airman First Class while in the service.  While stationed in California, he attended Vallejo College where he was awarded a degree in business.  After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a pipefitter in construction all over the southern United States and retired from Brown and Root.  He and Marie owned a furniture store in Oklahoma for many years.  When his beloved wife died of cancer, he moved to Kountze to be with his brother, Bill.  He was an avid reader and writer and had one story published in Reminisce Magazine Lloyd was a loving father and grandfather.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Kountze.

He is survived by his daughters, Rozland LaCombe and her husband Thomas of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Melissa Slaton of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Melinda Scoles of Valliant, Oklahoma; sons, E.C. Boone and David Thompson and his wife Kasey of Idabel, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren;  sister, Jo Harrison and her husband Eddy of Woodville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Kupiec Thompson; daughter, Kelly Petty; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Quincy Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren.  A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, November 21, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
