Jasper Steve Snyder, Sr.

Jasper was born in Union County, North Carolina on January 9, 1928 to James Stadler Snyder and Dalena Taylor. After serving in the Navy Jasper moved to Nederland and started working for Pure Oil which later became Unocal. He retired in 1987 and he and his wife Jody moved to Toledo Bend where they spent almost 15 years until Jasper’s declining health brought them back to Beaumont in 2001.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Martha Jo “Jody” Snyder of Beaumont; sons, Steve Snyder and his wife Cyndi of Austin and Jim Snyder and his wife Lynn of Boerne; daughters, Janelle Davila and her husband Phil of Grand Prairie and Jody Lee and her husband Gary of Beaumont; step-daughters, Nina Adams and her husband JP of Beaumont, Jamie Brezinski of Waldwick, New Jersey, Judy Gereaux and her husband Jerry of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Jana Landry and her husband Kevin of Friendswood; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Evans of Charlotte, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Snyder family would like to thank Dr. Santos Soberon and his staff at Beaumont Internal Medicine and Geriatric Associates and Dr. Arfeen and the nursing staff at Harbor Hospice.

His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010, at Broussard’s.
