Kirk McBride, 56, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a long battle with cancer.
He was born January 10, 1954, in Santa Monica, California to Bette R. Reed and Monte K. McBride. He moved to Texas with his family in 1968 and graduated from Grapeland High School. While attending Texas A&M, he met his wife of thirty-four years, Edie. In 1977 he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. They then moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where he worked as a Sales Engineer for Fisher Controls. In 1981 the couple moved to Beaumont, Texas where Kirk became a VP for Scallon Controls. In 1998 they moved to Wilsonville, Oregon where Kirk worked as a regional manager for Invensys. After two years, they returned to the Beaumont area where Kirk continued with Invensys working in the areas of management, sales, and project development.
Kirk had great love and enthusiasm for God, his family, friends, and his many hobbies. “Capt’n Kirk” loved to be on the water whether canoeing, sailing, or fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Edie McBride of Sour Lake; son, Matthew McBride of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Stephanie McBride of Sour Lake; brother, Chris McBride of Denver, Colorado; uncle, Wes Reed of Los Angeles, California; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Virginia and Murray Anderson of Beaumont.
His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Wesley United Methodist Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the church. A family committal was at Broussard’s Crematorium.
