Nelson Ducote, 74, of Port Neches died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence.
He was born July 23, 1936, in Cottonport, Louisiana to Lawrence and Viola (McDonald) Ducote, and had lived in the Nederland area since 1959. Nelson had owned and operated Leonard’s TV Sales and Service in Port Arthur since 1985 and served in the Army National Guard for sixteen years.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Shirley Ducote of Port Neches; daughters, Dana Broeder and her husband Steve of Pearland, Raquel Ducote of Houston, Rhonda Mendoza and her husband Brian of The Woodlands, and Rebecca D’Agostino of Dallas; sons, Derren Ducote and his wife Dedra of The Woodlands, Robert Ducote and his wife Dawn of Nederland, and Mark Ducote and his wife Brandi of Lumberton; seventeen grandchildren; sisters, Beryl Roberts and her husband Norman, Marlene Ferrara and her husband Nick, Martha Lachney and her husband Gerald, and Glenda Cypriano and her husband Phil all of Baton Rouge; and brother, Johnny Ducote of Baton Rouge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Viola Ducote; and son Joseph Ducote.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church, 3503 Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, October 11, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m, at Broussard’s.
