Mrs. Carmen Jo Accardo Prest, 74, of Beaumont, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, died Monday, October 4, 2010, at The Clairmont in Beaumont after a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 2, 1935, in Beaumont to Laura and Joseph Accardo. Carmen lived much of her life in Shreveport, Louisiana, but had lived in Beaumont for the last twenty-one years. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.
Carmen is survived by her two sons, Jude Gerard Prest and his wife Jennifer of Los Angeles, California and Joseph Anthony Prest, Jr. of Haughton, Louisiana; two sisters, Charlcie Accardo Pink and Nettie Accardo Norwood and her husband Johnny Norwood, Sr.; and by “her angels”, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins in both Beaumont and Shreveport, Louisiana.
She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-four years, Joseph Anthony Prest, Sr.; and her parents, Laura and Joseph Accardo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Broussard’s.
Justin Knight, Johnny Norwood, Jr., Jeff Norwood, Veryl Pink, Jr., Jacob Dillon, Brad Pink, Kyle Dillon, Randy Brown, and Johnny Norwood, Sr. will serve as pallbearers. Don Sterba, Cody Pink and Layne Wilson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the administration and nursing staff of The Clairmont and Hospice of Texas for their loving care and attention during her final months.
