James "Jim" R. McCoy

James R. “Jim” McCoy, 76, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

 

He was born August 22, 1934, in Portage, Wisconsin to Josephine Reise and Cyril McCoy and had lived in Beaumont for many years. Jim was a food and beverage manager with the Flagship Hotel in Galveston from 1970 through 1975. He was a Travel Consultant at the Ben Rogers Visitors Center for many years and was a member of the Lions Club where he was named Lion of the Year in 1999.

 

He was a very outgoing person and never met a stranger.  Jim had “A Smile that wins.”

 

Survivors include his son, Jim McCoy and his wife Sandra, who was like a daughter he never had, of Beaumont; and grandchildren, Anthony McCoy and Evan Nicholas McCoy.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Joyce McCoy.

 

A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Culpepper Funeral Home, 406 East Adams Street, Kosciusko, Mississippi with burial to follow at Carson Ridge Cemetery in Ethel, Mississippi.   

 

Local arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
