W. C. “Dub” Pousson
W. C. “Dub” Pousson, 82, of Nederland passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
William was born on May 19, 1928 in Sour Lake, Texas. He attended school in Nederland, grades 1 through 9. He graduated from St. James High School in Port Arthur in 1946. While at St. James, Pousson lettered 3 years in football (1943-1945), 3 years in track (1944-1946) and 3 years in baseball (1944-1946). During his junior year, Pousson was voted best athlete in high school. In 1994, he was adopted by Nederland High School class of 1946, after being with them grades 1 through 9.
William was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church since 1936. Served as Eucharist Minister, Lector, R.C.I.A. instructor, usher, vocation committee, C.C.D. teacher, and brought communion to nursing homes and the home bound. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1946. He held numerous offices, including Grand Knight, District Deputy, State Youth Consultant, 4th Degree member and officer of Dick Dowling Assembly.
William got married in September 1948 and the first of 4 children was born in August 1949. In 1950, Pousson and family moved to Freeport. While there, he joined the Pipefitter Union and attended classes as a 3rd year apprentice. At the conclusion of his 4th year as an apprentice, Pousson was selected top apprentice of the local and invited to go to Georgia and National Convention. A member of Pipefitter’s Local Union 195 since 1951. Pousson was an officer of Synpol Credit Union for twenty-two years (1960-1982). He retired from Synpol after thirty-six years. He was also Block Captain of Neighborhood Watch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and I.J. Pousson; sister, Doris Noblitt of Houston; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pousson of Jasper; and granddaughter, Amber Lynn Pousson.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of Nederland; brother Burton and his wife Rosal of Orange; son Charles of Jasper; son, Bobby and his wife Sherry of Mauriceville; daughter, Donna and her husband Joe Lane of Nederland; and son Johnny and his wife Shantale of LaBelle. He is also survived by 10 grandkids and 5 great grandkids.
