Carl F. Gibbs, 88, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 20, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

 

A native of Hampton and resident of Beaumont for seventy-four years; Carl was born January 22, 1922, to Lillian Walker and Tom Gibbs.  He was a retired unit operator with Unocal. After his retirement, he owned Old Town English Auction where he was an auctioneer.  Carl was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Kirk and her husband Clarence and Christy L. Gibbs all of Beaumont; son, Carl Gibbs, Jr. of Houston; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie “Chic” Gibbs.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Broussard’s.
