Carmalene Knowles, 89, of Beaumont, died August 24, 2010, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.
A native of Union, Mississippi, and a longtime resident of the Beaumont area; Carmalene was born July 25, 1921, to Ada Caroline Blaylock and Marion Merideth Savell. She was a cashier at Shelton’s Drive In and a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry L. Knowles, Sr. and his wife Dixie of Houston, Kenneth Elon Knowles and his wife Jenny of Beaumont, Danny Lee Knowles of Austin; daughter, Carolyn Oster and her husband Earl Jr. of Beaumont; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and sister, Katherine Blair and her husband Garland of Jackson, Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Elon Knowles, and her parents.
Her funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of her family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Broussard’s.
