Wallace D. Williams
August 28, 1931 - April 27, 2010

Wallace D. Williams, Sr., 78, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Wallace was born August 28, 1931, to Nell Mae Brown and Louis Matthew Williams, Sr.

 

He attended Beaumont High School and was a graduate of both Stephen F. Austin College and Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science and a United States Army Veteran. He and his brother Louis were partners in L.M. Williams and Sons Funeral Directors, a company found by their father in 1942. Wallace went on to establish Beaumont Medi-Rents and Medic-Care EMS. He was a fifty year member of Lodge AF & AM 286 and the El Mina Shrine.

 

His daughter, Anne E. Williams – Schrang; and his parents preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife, Nell Florey Williams; son, Wallace D. Williams, Jr. and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Otto B. Schrang, Betty Louise Schrang, Pierce Winston Williams, Audrey Taylor Williams and Allison Caroline Williams; brother, Louis M. Williams, Jr. and his wife Mary and their son, Matt Williams; son-in-law, Robert Schrang; and cousins, Sassy Soper and Margaret Sample and her husband Don.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2010, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, followed by a gathering of his family and friends in the Cloister Room. The committal will be at 3:00 p.m., in the Williams family plot at Magnolia Cemetery.
