Anita "Maw Maw" Meaux
January 12, 1916 - April 22, 2010
Anita Fontenot “Maw-Maw” Meaux, 94, of Winnie went to be with our Lord on April 22, 2010. She was born in Mamou, Louisiana on January 12, 1916, to Everiste and Dorlois Fontenot. Anita met and married Adam Meaux and from this union they had six children. In 1948 they moved to Winnie to raise their children.
Anita or “Maw Maw” as most people called her was a homemaker and Adam was as a driver for M and M Air Service until his death. Maw Maw liked to cook and be among her family and friends; she loved to shop and enjoyed going to Beaumont for her many shopping trips.
Maw Maw is survived by her four children, Reese Meaux and his wife Julie, Anna Joslin, Anita Daniels and her husband, George, Percy Meaux and his wife Edna; sister, Thelma Soileau; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adam Meaux; three sisters; four brothers; daughter, Betty Saunders; and son, Tony Lee Meaux.
The Meaux family wishes to express their thanks to Nina Mansfield for taking such good care of Maw Maw.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Broussard’s.
