Leander Touchet, 77, of Nederland, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
Leander was born in Churchpoint, Louisiana March 7, 1933 to Elias and Azalie Faul Touchet. He lived in Nederland for fifty-one years .He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Jefferson County precinct 2 with forty years of service. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, active member of the Knights of Columbus 5145 for fifty years and was known for his cooking. He also enjoyed gardening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland with Reverend Msgr. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be 3:00 until 9:00PM Monday, April 12, 2010 with a rosary service at 7:00 PM at Broussard’s in Nederland.
Leander was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Azalie Touchet; sisters, Ruby Higginbothem, Versie Mae Fusilier and Hazel Parson; brothers, Elzie, Joe, Langford and Elie Touchet.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Lela Touchet; daughter, Patricia DeVillier and husband, Louis; sons, Leander Touchet, Jr. and Benjamin Touchet and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Jessica DeVillier, Brandon DeVillier, Kasie DeVillier, Jonathon Touchet, Heather Monk and Randa Bailey; great-grandchildren, Angel, John, Natalye and Azalie; sisters-in-law, Nida Touchet and Jerry Touchet.
